Do you know someone who provides direct support to people with disabilities who demonstrates the values of the DSP Code of Ethics?  Then, they should be nominated to win an award!  Monthly ($100), Quarterly ($500), and Annual Above and Beyond ($1,000) awards are given.

The Direct Support Professionals Recognition Program is a collaborative effort of the Direct Support Professionals Association of Tennessee (DSPAT) and the State of Tennessee, Department of Intellectual Developmental Disabilities (DIDD).  The program is funded by DIDD.  In support of this effort, we encourage all employees to become actively involved by nominating those direct support who truly go above and beyond in their efforts.

Criteria for DSPAT Award Nominations

You have to be the best and demonstrate values in the Code of Ethics for DSPs!  The Code of Ethics are described here for the Direct Support Professional Award and here for the Above and Beyond Annual Award.  As well as in the nomination forms.   Nominations may be submitted at any time.  You can submit your nominations one of two ways:

Nominees may also:

• Have excellent attendance record
• Volunteer for overtime when needed
• Take extra training to improve skills
• Have exceptional relationship with the person(s) they support
• Support the person(s) in special activities
• Help build relationships with co-workers

Please note that the nomination criteria and forms have been updated.  There are now two forms:

• One for Monthly and Quarterly Awards
  Each nominee must have two examples of the nine values for a monthly award.  Quarterly awards are selected from monthly award winners who have demonstrated four of the values in the Code of Ethics.  If received by the fifth of each month, they are reviewed that month.  If received after the fifth of the month, they are reviewed the next month. Each quarter, one quarterly and three monthly awards are given.
  
• One for Above and Beyond Annual Awards
  Up to nine Above and Beyond Annual Awards are given each year.  Nominations are accepted January 1 – February 28.  Winners are notified by March 31.
