Dental Care (not covered by insurance): Pacesetters, Inc. has paid for needed dental work and/or dentures for those supported in the program that do not have dental insurance to cover the cost of the dental work. Dental care for those supported by Pacesetters, Inc. often cost above the care that is allocated by insurance for the person in a years’ time, which leaves the person supported with out-of-pocket cost, which they cannot afford.

Environmental Upgrades/ Modification to Home: Pacesetters, Inc. has used funding to pay for environmental modifications such as ramps and showers for those that do not have monies available to pay for these modifications. Additionally, Pacesetters, Inc. has screened a porch in for a person who could not sit outside due to their severe allergic reaction to bees.

Camp Discovery: Pacesetters, Inc. has sponsored many people over the years to attend Camp Discovery. Without the sponsorship, these folks would not be able to afford to attend the week long camp during the summer months.

Trips to Visit Family (out of state): Pacesetters, Inc. supports several people with families that are located out of state. We have used funding to pay for trips for people to visit family in Virginia and Alabama so that they can remain connected to their families.

Monthly Bills/Living Expenses: At times, due to the rising cost of expenses, people cannot afford their monthly bills. Pacesetters, Inc. recognizes and assists these people in paying their monthly expenses when it becomes a burden for those supported in the program. Each person supported by the program is responsible for paying their shared living expenses of their leased home, which is a shared cost with roommates ( 2-3 person homes).

 

Service Animal Care: Pacesetters, Inc. has used funding to support a person with a service animal to obtain medicine and vet care for his emotional support dog, which he could not otherwise afford.

Thanksgiving/Christmas Holidays: Pacesetters, Inc. has used fundraising to support families in the Family Support Program by purchasing grocery staples for Thanksgiving meals. Christmas gifts have been provided using fundraising efforts. The Family Support Program Christmas Giving has reached around 100 children. In addition to providing presents to those in Supported Living who would not have the Christmas holiday otherwise.
